Minimizing Radiation X-ray Tips When Treated

When seeing a doctor, in certain cases the patients were asked to perform X-rays such as x-rays to image the body's condition more clearly. X-ray exposure in a certain amount to give effect to the body. But there are tips to minimize exposure to X-rays during treatment.

X-rays are often used for investigations in the medical world. X-rays are often used to generate two-dimensional image of the hard tissues of the body (bones and teeth) required for the examination.

Until now still being debated about the function and its loss. However, even so far X-rays are still very frequently used in the medical world.

Regarding the safe use of X-rays, as quoted from Epharmapedia and Environmental Health & Safety Division Radiation Safety Center NC State University on Wednesday (07/27/2011) term is ALARA.

ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle of radiation safety is to minimize the radiation dose and release of radioactive material by using any reasonable method.

There are three principles to meet the appropriate X-ray dose ALARA, namely:

1. Time
Minimize direct exposure time to reduce radiation dose.

2. Distance
Make double the distance between the body with a radiation source will reduce exposure to radiation.

3. Use of protective shield
The use of protective shields that contain absorbent material such as glass for beta particles is an effective way to reduce radiation exposure.

While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) make guidelines to minimize unnecessary radiation exposure from X-rays:
Consider the purposes of the use of X-rays
Do not reject the use of X-ray if medically necessary.
